Coated and uncoated acupuncture needles
Traditionally, acupuncture needles were uncoated. Insertion behavior was determined primarily by the precision grinding, polishing, and surface of the steel wire. Since the 1970s, medical silicone coatings have also been used to improve glide during insertion. Which version is suitable depends on the application, technique, and personal preference. Various sizes and diameters are available in both coated and uncoated versions from asiamed and TeWa.
Gold-plated and silver-plated acupuncture needles
Gold and silver needles have a long-standing place in traditional Chinese medicine and ear acupuncture. Today, these acupuncture needles are generally not made of solid gold or silver, but are metal needles with a corresponding surface coating. GUIDE TUBES
Guide tubes as insertion aids
Guide tubes can assist with controlled insertion, especially when using thinner or longer acupuncture needles. They are approximately 0.2 mm shorter than the needle being used, allowing the needle tip to protrude slightly from the tube upon placement. A quick tap on the protruding handle allows the needle to be inserted into the skin in a controlled manner. Rounded edges ensure comfortable placement on the acupuncture point. Transparent plastic tubes also make it easier to center the needle tip and support precise guidance during the procedure. Safe-T Sleeve™: the specialized guide tube for Clean Needle Technique and demanding treatment situations
Safe-T Sleeve™ is an asiamed innovation designed for longer acupuncture needles and situations where needle guidance and hygienic handling are particularly important. A thin plastic sleeve is positioned over the guide tube and remains over the needle shaft once the tube is removed. This allows the needle to be guided during deeper insertion or stimulation without direct contact with the needle shaft. Safe-T Sleeve™ was developed for the Clean Needle Technique, which is primarily used in North America. The system provides controlled application, especially for needles longer than 4 cm, deeper tissue, and very thin or long needles.

Individual and multi-needle blisters
Acupuncture needles are typically packaged in individual sterile blisters. For practitioners who perform acupuncture frequently throughout the day, multi-needle blisters offer an efficient alternative. TeWa Speed Pak acupuncture needles come with five sterile needles per blister. This reduces the time spent opening packaging and supports a faster workflow during treatment. Selected TeWa acupuncture needles are available as Speed Pak variants.
