Founded by medical professionals
asiamed is founded by physicians with the goal of providing acupuncturists with high-quality products for a variety of applications. From the very beginning, the focus has been on the combination of medical expertise, product quality, and practical relevance.
In Suhl, the ambition emerges to
combine the knowledge of Chinese acupuncture with modern technology, scientific understanding, and precision manufacturing.
A milestone for acupuncture research
The Streitberger placebo needle is introduced in The Lancet, providing a significant impetus for clinical studies on acupuncture. It makes research more comparable without losing the appearance of a classic acupuncture treatment.
Growth and market position
With the acquisition of Seirin Germany, asiamed strengthens its market position and expands its expertise in the European acupuncture needle market. The development of production capacities in Suhl is completed shortly thereafter.
Presence in China
With the founding of Suzhou asia-med Medical Instruments Co., Ltd., asiamed strengthens its proximity to manufacturing, suppliers, and Asian medical technology.
International experience in the USA
Boston represents asiamed’s international perspective: diverse markets, regulatory requirements, and therapeutic cultures continue to shape our understanding of professional users to this day.
With its sales subsidiary in Boston, Massachusetts, asiamed expands its access to the US healthcare market. By 2024, the company has gained international experience there in a demanding market for acupuncture, medical technology, and professional healthcare.
Strategic reorganization in China
Chinese operations are relocated to Ma’anshan and subsequently reorganized. In doing so, asiamed sharpens its international structure and its focus on reliable processes.
Focus on acupuncture needles and technology
asiamed is refocusing on its core business of acupuncture needles. In the same year, a patent for improved laser systems is granted—a sign of the connection between classical acupuncture and technical advancement.
With photobiomodulation, asiamed is expanding its focus beyond traditional acupuncture and opening up new perspectives for modern therapeutic applications.
New direction in healthcare
asiamed is returning to its original ownership structure and focusing on new areas of healthcare. Alongside our core business of acupuncture needles, modern, non-invasive therapy concepts such as photobiomodulation are becoming increasingly important.
Two locations, one standard of quality
Pullach serves as the hub for sales, purchasing, regulatory affairs, administration, and commercial management. Suhl is home to our logistics, warehousing, cleanroom processes, and central quality control for incoming medical products.
